Once every couple of years, the students at Pacific Horizons perform an end-of-the-year performance art program. They dress up in various island attire representing island countries and cultures (Tonga, Maori, French Polynesia, etc.)
It's great to see the Murphy kids at work.
It's ever greater to see the Murphy Mom at work.
Tradition is that the teachers are not exempt from the program. They, ordinarily, perform the final dance of the evening. They wear their matching Samoan pulatasis, they dance (or attempt to), they swing their hands... and people run up onto the stage and pour dollar bills over their head.
That's right. They make it rain on the teachers.
It's culture. It's all in good fun. And it makes for very interesting dinner conversation.
I'm off to the bank to collect my singles.
'nuff said.
