Luckily, Cyclone Nisha just skirted our island and moseyed on out towards the Cook Islands. (I've been trying to fit the word "mosey" into a sentence for a good two days now. finally.) No... we didn't get a cool, fierce cyclone name.
Last night, though, as I was driving home I looked up and thought I saw a shooting star. "How cool is that?" I thought. Oddly, as I continued driving, I saw another, and then another. "Is there a meteor shower tonight? No. Wait... It's cloudy, tonight." I slowed to a stop and glared out the windshield.
Turns out... they weren't shooting stars.
It was the power line hitting the coconut fronds waving in the strong wind and setting them on fire, causing short intermittent flames to streak across the leaves. Awesome. Samoan Fireworks.
Everyone is safe and sound on our island... We're just wet and tired of rain. These are the kind of days when sandals start to smell. Tomorrow should be named Funky Feet Friday. I feel for those teachers in the classroom today. Ughh. Dozens of funky wet feet and sandals.
'nuff said.
